Jun14-Coping-with-New-Baby-at-Home-During-Covid19

Welcoming a new baby into your family is an incredibly exciting time, however, it is also an equally stressful time. Add into this that we currently are living through a global pandemic unlike anything any of us will have ever seen, and you can see why being a parent to a newborn is something that is going to try even the most excited of new parents.

Things may be a little overwhelming at the moment, so to help you to try and get through it the best that you can, we have put together our top 4 tips for making sure that you cope with your new baby during Covid-19.

See the positives

One of the best things that you can do during these difficult times is to do your best to see the positives. Think about how the fact that you are staying home means that you don’t have to worry about getting dressed or cleaning up when people come to visit. If you don’t have any clean cups, or you haven’t brushed your hair, it doesn’t really matter.

Sleep when you can

Sleep is something that alludes so many of us when we have a newborn baby, with the current lockdown situation, it makes sense to take the opportunity to sleep as and when you can. If the baby is having a nap and you are tired, then take a nap. It isn’t like you have anywhere else to be right now.

Focus on your baby

You have just brought a beautiful new life into the world, so, make sure that you focus on them! Use them as your chance to focus on something other than the drama that is going on in the world and distance yourself from the news and the facts and figures. So long as your little bubble is safe, then that is all that matters.

Catch up with people virtually

One of the hardest things about having a baby during these times is that you cannot see your family members and friends. Normally when you have a baby you will have plenty of people around you to offer support, to help out or simply to come over and coo at your new arrival. Covid 19 has put a stop to all of this and that can be one of the worst things of all. However, the good news is that we live in a modern world whereby tech helps to keep us all in touch with one another. Make sure that you use this as much as you can. Share photos on social media, send videos around to your family and friends and arrange for video catch ups as and when you can. It will help you to feel connected and give you a chance to show off your baby too!
