Whilst the summer season is usually one of the most favoured, the heat and humidity that comes with it can create big problems for those who are pregnant. Heatstroke and dehydration , mixed with the difficulties with moving during the third trimester can make the summer season a burden rather than a blessing. Here are some fun activities you can do that keep you out of the heat but don’t leave you feeling bored.

Pamper yourself

The stress and strain on your body during pregnancy is enough to wear anyone out. So why not take some time to really pamper yourself. Run a bath, relax, read a book and enjoy the luxury.

You could even book yourself in for some spa treatments and let someone else pamper you. Maybe go with a friend or your partner and spend some quality time together.

Whatever you decide, this is a great way to stay indoors without feeling like you’re missing out.

Take a class

Classes can be a great way to occupy your time whilst also giving you the chance to meet other mums-to-be. Maybe consider a prenatal yoga class, or book yourself in for some parenting classes. Taking these types of classes can also be very important as they help you to relax and feel more prepared for the birth of your baby.

Have a look at what’s available and consider putting together a timetable of different classes to keep you occupied during the hot days.

**Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, it might be a good idea to take online Antenatal/Prenatal classes instead to keep you and your baby safe and healthy.**

Have a movie night

Nothing is more relaxing than a movie night with popcorn. Whether you snuggle under a duvet or just enjoy being in some comfy clothes, think about renting the latest blockbuster or revisiting an old classic.

If you fancy getting out and about, you could also consider going to a live show or the cinema.

Get baking

Staying indoors all the time can be frustrating. Whilst you might not want to go outside to endure the heat, staying cooped up indoors is not always the best solution.

So think about occupying your time with some baking. You can try out new recipes, practice some skills, or maybe even buy a few new cookbooks that will teach you a thing or two. Baking can be a great way to occupy yourself and is ideal when preparing for visitors. Nothing beats offering guests a freshly-baked muffin when they arrive.

Decorate

When you’ve got a lot of free time, being constructive might be a top priority. No-one wants to feel like they’re wasting their days, so consider decorating your new baby’s room. It’s a task that needs doing at some point, and there’s no better time to get started than when you’re sheltering from the sun.

You can experiment with colours, buy in the furniture you need and just make sure that everything is perfect in time for the little one’s arrival. Doing this will also help you to feel more at ease as it’s one less thing you need to remember to do.
