Jun11-Summer-Skin-Care-Tips-Pregnant-Women

Whilst everyone looks forward to enjoying the summer, for those who are pregnant, the harsh summer sun can create a whole host of health problems. Finding activities that keep you occupied indoors is one thing , but taking care of yourself is far more important. When it comes to summer skin care, follow these simple tips.

Natural ingredients

It might be worth reviewing the ingredients of your current skin care products and ensuring that they’re all natural. It could even be time to go out and treat yourself to some new moisturisers and oils. Try things like;

  • Sesame Oil
  • Aloe Vera
  • Cocoa Butter
  • Almond Oil
  • Lavender Oil

Eat the right stuff

Taking care of your skin is all about eating the right stuff, and you can’t expect it to improve overnight. Review your diet and consider eating foods that are high in healthy fats as they help to hydrate and repair damaged skin. Why not take a look at our superfoods list  and include a few of these in your diet too?

Reduce time spent in direct sunlight

Strong sunlight can be incredibly damaging to your skin. Sun bathing or visiting tanning salons can all increase the UV damage. Whilst pregnant, you should avoid sun bathing and try reducing the amount of time you spend in direct sunlight. This will not only let your skin feel fresher but will help you stay looking younger, too.

Get adequate sleep

Nothing is a drain on your skin like lack of sleep. Combating those dark patches under each eye can feel like a constant uphill struggle. And now that you’re pregnant, you’ll likely find yourself tiring much quicker as the weeks go by. If you’re feeling tired, then take a nap. There’s no harm in that. If it’s what your body needs then you should provide.

Moisturise daily

Moisturising daily will not only help combat stretch marks, it will keep you feeling fresh and rejuvenated. Lock in moisture with a daily routine using moisturising creams that are infused with herbs and are made from natural ingredients. The added bonus is this can also help to alleviate aches and pains and help you feel relaxed as well.

Avoid water that’s too hot

When showering, avoid using water that’s too hot. Hot water will open your pores and encourage dirt and bacteria to get in them. Instead, try showering with lukewarm water instead. This is also a great way to keep you cool as the outside temperatures go up.

Stay hydrated

Most importantly, you need to stay hydrated. Dehydration can affect you in a number of ways and can dry out your skin. Make sure you’re drinking at least 2 litres of water a day and get into the habit of carrying a water bottle with you wherever you go.

Following our top 7 tips here will help your skin to feel fresh and healthy. Not only will this help your baby, but it will also help to alleviate stress and keep you happy too, something that is just as important.
